The Laurent Company Announces New Communication Committee
Sioux Falls, South Dakota The Laurent Company announces today the formation of a new committee to facilitate communication between the local community of McCook County and The Laurent Company.
As we go forward with our plans to build the town of Laurent in McCook County, we want to take proactive step in communicating with the people of McCook County. We have identified a small group of key people to meet with us monthly and to help establish a clear channel for two way communication, said M.E. Barwacz, CEO of The Laurent Company.
Committee members include Ralph Dybdahl, McCook County Commissioner; Ron Bennett, McCook Superintendent of Schools; Randy and Charlene Zapp, owners of Zapp Hardware; and Bill Rotert and Brett Snyders of McCook Electric Cooperative.
After receiving a letter of support for the plans from the City of Canistota, The Laurent Company has invited them to name a representative to join this informal group.
Our hope is that through our meetings, everyone will become more aware of impending activity and changes. The entire region will be impacted and our sincere hope is that with knowledge and good planning, the majority will be excited and will benefit from the development of the new town, said Barwacz.
To date, we have received Phase 1 reservations from 33 families for housing in Laurent. These families have 32 children, about half are hearing and half are deaf. The most recent request is from a young man in Bundeena, Australia.
