Second Reading of the Ordinance This Tuesday

McCook County Commission will have second reading of the Traditional Neighborhood overlay ordinance this coming Tuesday, and I look forward to them voting on this so we can move forward. People seem to expect that this ordinance, once passed, will be referred to a public vote if the opposition group can gather 207 signatures.

This does mean The Laurent Company may have to wait up to 80 more days before we can apply for the development. This is not an easy thing to do — wait. We are excited to be moving forward, and we truly hope we can do that very soon.

A good number of people have asked us when we expect the ground breaking to take place, and we have said we had originally hoped to break ground last spring. Now, we expect to break ground this fall. Stay tuned for an announcement on the date!

We remain committed to working with local farmers on resolving their concerns and fears, and we will keep our channels of communication open. Our office is open during Monday through Friday 9 am to 5 pm so please do feel free to stop by and say hi, ask questions and so on.

I will be out of town for next 2 days, and I will be in the office next week. We have been gone on two long family trips. It has been refreshing for us!
