Laurent Charrette — Final Plan!
The final site plan has been unveiled and presented by Nederveld Associates on Friday evening to a group of 75 or more people in the attendance at Lakodia Hall in Camp Lakodia. The general reaction was, "Wow!" Many are impressed by what they have seen. In the next few weeks, Nederveld Associates will be putting together a complete Laurent Charrette book for us including all notes, records of all meetings, sketches, plans and so on. Come in and check out the final renderings!
Day Three and Four (Wednesday and Thursday)
The site plans were further refined, and the stakeholders had several opportunities to provide feedback on the plan as well as potential uses. Ideas for parks, hardscaped European style plazas, school, softball fields, street grid layout and others were shared. The planners took the feedback in a positive stride and produced an outstanding final plan. After Thursday afternoon and Friday all day, the planners are now busy producing a detailed site plan as well as 3D rendering of the entire plan, housing types and so on. Many stayed up until 4 or 5 am, and two actually had no sleep all night. See Day Three and Four photos.
Charrette Day Two (Tuesday)
The planners produced several rough sketches for the site plan, narrowing them down to four possible options. We had a very productive and informal meeting with County Commissioners as well as public input. Based on the input, we are going to take steps to ensure that future residents of Laurent fully understands that they are moving into predominantly agrigculture area — that there will be farm smells, noise, flies and the current farmers wanted to make sure they could continue to farm and even expand. See Day Two photos.
Charrette Day One (Sunday and Monday)
Charrette day one went very well. We have stakeholders from Califorina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Maryland, South Dakota and Washington, D.C. participating in the charrette. The planners and stakeholders went to the site of Laurent and walked around, examining high and low points of the land. By end of Monday evening, the planners gathered all the input from the stakeholders and began to work on several possible site plans.
